Class

This week in class we didn’t do a lot. Monday we went over the paper that we had due and that was about it. Wednesday we got into groups and talked about our paper. A lot of people didn’t show up and some of the ones that showed up didn’t have their rough draft. We got out early that day. I am so ready for the weekend. I have a baby shower and a thirty-one party Saturday so I am going to be pretty busy. I am ready for this week to be over. It hasn’t been my week at all. Can it just be the weekend already!!

This week

This week in class we worked in groups and talked about the poems that we had to read for homework. Wednesday was my favorite because we played Taboo. It was something different and it was really fun. I think we should do that more often. I am really ready for this weekend. I am going to a horse extravaganza in Richmond. I haven't been in like two years so I am really excited. The Horse Extravaganza is a horse expo thing where they have professional horse instructors that come and they have horse shows. I am so excited.

Class this week

We didn't have class Monday. I was kind of glad because I took that time and I used it to catch up on stuff. In class Wednesday we got into groups and each group got assigned a poem. As a group we had to read the poem and talk about what it meant. The poem we had was Facing It. This poem was very confusing. After I figured out what it meant it was pretty cool. A veteran that fought in the Vietnam War was standing at the wall and he compared himself to the wall and how they were similar. The wall had the names of the people who died in the war and it is reflective. When you look at the wall you see yourself and others around you. When he saw other people he was wondering if it was real life or if he was seeing stuff from war.

VCU tour

Today I went to tour the VCU School of Nursing School. I was really neat and I actually learned a lot. It was really overwhelming at first because I am not use to the city like that. I have been in the country all my life. After I got kind of use to it, it wasn’t that bad. They took us in the clinical room and there were dummies in there and they looked so real. In the room across from the room we were in was a girl dummy that gave birth. A person behind a screen operated the dummy while the students learned what was going on. It looked so cool. I really hope I get accepted there because it is a great school. It is ranked in the top ten nursing school in the United States.

Fall Break

I am so ready for fall break. Even thought it isn't going to be much of a break because I will be studying for midterms all break. I really think that they should have made fall break after midterms so we can have a recuperating break. A break is usually relaxing, having fun type. Not having to be stuck inside all day studying. It makes me mad. I do plan on going to the peanut fest with my boyfriend and some friends! That is the only fun thing I plan on doing and the rest is studying.

Prisoners

I went and saw the movie Prisoners Sunday. It was a really good movie. It was definitely worth the money. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. These two kids have been kidnapped by a guy in a RV. They couldn't prove that he did it so they let him go. Well the father of one of the girls wasn't having that so he kidnapped the guy and prisoned him. He locked him in the bathroom in a house that was left to him. There was a alot of mystery on who took the kids and where they were. The aunt of the guy who drove the RV had something to do with it. She kidnapped the father at the end and pushed him in a hole where he couldn't get out. The one little girl got away and she was saved. The detective went to the aunts house and he caught her giving the little girl drugs. He shot the aunt and rushed the little girl to the hospital so she could be saved. The end of the movie made me mad because they were investigating the aunts house and the father was blowing a whistle that he had found in the hole and the cop looked over to where the whistle was and that was it. It made me mad because I want to know what happened to the father.

Hills like White Elephants

The story "Hills like White Elephants," was very odd but relates to today's society. It started with them drinking beer at a train station while waiting on the train to arrive. The guy was talking to the girl about getting an abortion. The girl knew if she didn’t get an abortion that he would most likely leave her. That relates to today’s society because a lot of girls go and get abortion because they know the man won’t take care of the baby and walk out of their lives. I think that the man really wanted the baby but he knew with them traveling the baby wouldn’t get brought up right. There is a lot of things that could have happened but we will never know. It was a really good story but a little weird because I didn’t know what the operation was at first until I looked it up. Also I’m not sure is the man a mistress or is it her boyfriend? Maybe he is a mistress and that is why he wanted her to get an abortion.
